I think that with social media today it’s really easy to think anyone is leading a good life.
Somebody can post several pictures of themselves travelling to different places and you assume that they’re leading high life.
Somebody can post pictures of themselves with their spouse and family and you assume that they’re always happy.
Somebody can post pictures of them making a ton of money and you assume that they’re therefore rich in life.
But social media makes it too easy today to lie and/or be introspective to the point you belittle yourself. It’s easy to categorize yourself with labels and think that you’ve a problem “According to this, I am depressed”, “In comparison to my friends, I am a loser, a coward.”
If you really want to know someone, you have to find out how they go to bed every night.
Somebody could be rich, but yearns for companionship.
Somebody could always be partying at posh places, but he goes to bed drunk and angry.
Somebody could be sleeping in different hotels all the time, but he misses his home badly.
It’s kind of tough and tricky, but stop using social media to make yourself envious.
