When The Solution Is To Isolate

Research states that isolating oneself is a symptom of depression.

That’s when supposedly, your condition worsens as you lack interaction with others and start to ruminate over all the bad shit that has happened in your life.

I personally disagree somewhat.

I tend to isolate myself from time to time. I refuse to head out for whatever occasion and I even exit chat groups to further cement the idea that I want to be left alone.

Why?

Because people suck. Be it your friends or family, at times, they’d find ways to upset you, betray you or simply annoy the hell out of you.

Wouldn’t it be natural to feel like you need to be away from them?

I think when we were young, when we grow up as normal, healthy kids, we are taught to respect others, especially our elders and also to show up for things in the same respect.

I think as kids, we felt like we never had a choice.

Eventually, it can get too much.

Solution? Isolate.

Stop showing up.

Stop feeling like you need to give face to everyone and everything. It’s not a crime if you don’t.

Give yourself the time and love you deserve.

Why show up for something you don’t feel 100% for?

Why give face to people who don’t even care about you?

And after you are recharged, you can get back out there, slowly.

You’re in charge of your life. Handle it your way. Don’t let definitions you read online and social rules rule over your life.
