When my dad died, the one that got to me most was, “You should have told me.”

Like I owed them a damn thing. It sounds harsh, but that was how I felt.

No, I didn’t tell them, but they’d find out anyway.

Then came the texts.

Then came the “You should have told me” line almost immediately.

Then… they disappear, as usual.

Some friends stick with you truly.

Some are mere passersby.

That was why I didn’t tell you.
