A friend asked me the other day, “If your ex-girlfriend asks you out for lunch, would you be willing to meet her?”
My reply was:
“Yes. I don’t have anything against her. The past is the past. It has been a long time.
But honestly, what would be the point? The relationship has no value whatsoever.
I will not see her again after that and I do not care to. I also do not care what happens to her again.
So, what is the point?”
It sounds harsh, but it’s true.
Some relationships simply die and have no place in your life anymore.
It is literally a waste of your time and effort because you will never get anything out of it.
I’ve come to realize some people work like that in your life.
They come.
And then they must go.
The trick is to realize that you’re in full control and then you need to take that leap in getting rid of that relationship forever.
Some may say that you should never burn a bridge. You never know when you may need their help.
I say, burn that bridge quickly with tons of kerosene and lots of fire. You never know when they’ll find a way to piss you off, cheat you out of your happiness or betray you entirely.
