Truly, What You Say About Me Isn’t A Commodity
I just wrote this email to my small list of subscribers. Enjoy!
Hey you,
I just wanted to drop note to you to tell you how much your testimonials mean to me.
And by saying that, I mean that they aren’t commodities to me.
Over the last 6 years, I’ve come to learn that many entrepreneurs regard their testimonials as nothing but pieces of the puzzle to simply make more money.
Hell man, I remember being requested to write a testimonial for some marketer sleazebag and after I wrote it, he replied me telling me, “Hey Alden, can you write it this way instead?” And then he proceeded to write the entire fucking thing himself.
I didn’t think much of it back then, but man, that was dishonest as fuck.
He just wanted a specifically-designed comment so he could show it off to more people so he could make more sales of his scammy products.
I don’t think this is right. It devalues the purpose and meaning behind the message. It makes a heartfelt testimonial or praise turn into nothing but a cog in the money-making machine.
I am here to tell you today, what testimonials I’ve received have always inspired me to my core.
