Truly, What You Say About Me Isn’t A Commodity

I just wrote this email to my small list of subscribers. Enjoy!

Hey you,

I just wanted to drop note to you to tell you how much your testimonials mean to me.

And by saying that, I mean that they aren’t commodities to me.

Over the last 6 years, I’ve come to learn that many entrepreneurs regard their testimonials as nothing but pieces of the puzzle to simply make more money.

Hell man, I remember being requested to write a testimonial for some marketer sleazebag and after I wrote it, he replied me telling me, “Hey Alden, can you write it this way instead?” And then he proceeded to write the entire fucking thing himself.

I didn’t think much of it back then, but man, that was dishonest as fuck.

He just wanted a specifically-designed comment so he could show it off to more people so he could make more sales of his scammy products.

I don’t think this is right. It devalues the purpose and meaning behind the message. It makes a heartfelt testimonial or praise turn into nothing but a cog in the money-making machine.

I am here to tell you today, what testimonials I’ve received have always inspired me to my core.

They lift me up on days that are dark.

They inspire me to write even more because it reminds me why I am writing in the first place.

They make me remember about my dad’s death and how I am here to help.

They make me feel that there’s hope for a little writer dude like me trying to make it in this world.

So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

What you give back to me aren’t commodities, for what I write for you are nothing but honest-to-goodness advice which I create simply by trying my best. I hope the one day, you can find the same purpose and meaning behind such honesty. Revel in them and create a good intention out of it to help others and I can guarantee that life gets a lot easier. To only wish to make more money or gain fame in every little thing is gonna be tiring as hell.

And now, here are some of them. I won’t deny I am showing off somewhat (I am that honest.) I am proud of my shit after all. I just hope that they can inspire you the same.

Thank you.

And my favorite one of all:

Sorry not sorry for looking like Brad Pitt lol.
