I was up all night thinking about how I can move forward with marketing my business and its product, it currently being a shirt.
I have experience in online marketing, learning whatever it is I know from as early as 2012.
Here are some thoughts:
- The term “new media” isn’t so new anymore.
- Modern platforms today like TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts are a beast of its own.
- Their algorithm is extremely enticing for entrepreneurs and influencers as it disregards followers count, giving any newbie a chance to go viral.
- But it’s still up to you to work hard to stand out and provide real value. It’s up to you to create real fans and not just entertain passersby.
- It’s hence easy to think you’re doing great after going viral, but I do not believe the high numbers reflecting your likes, shares and followers will come to mean anything if you’re just doing random shit for content.
- Yes, people today are fucked in terms of their need for dopamine. Attention spans are shorter today and they’d rather be entertained than learn how to grow. These people put in no effort to make a purchase that they need.
- Newsletters are changing in its form. It used to be having to build an email list on your own. Now there are platforms streamlining the process, platforms like Substack and Beehiiv.
