I wrote about this before, but it’s something I enjoy talking about.
I always look forward to my monthly haircut with my barber.
During the cut, we talk all sorts of shit and crack the dumbest jokes ever.
Throughout the years, I also learnt about his life, his family and how he ran his hair cutting business.
Indeed, he’s a real bro.
I find that a lot of people in life make the mistake of getting too close to others in hopes of fostering a healthy relationship.
But it’s a folly to think that way.
It’s getting to close when shit happens.
Sometimes you have to keep your distance. It’s not like you’re running for president or prom queen. You can’t be too close to everyone.
I certainly don’t want to start having phone conversations with my barber or have heart-to-heart talks over beers.
It’s a healthy relationship with a healthy distance.
So aim for that: Healthiness.
You don’t need to be the best in everything and that includes your relationships.
