On The Arrogance Of Wasting Time

A year ago, I dropped a text to a friend of mine. He was someone in the online marketing space here and he taught me a bunch of things before.

It had been years since we last met, so I asked if he wanted to meet up for coffee.

I added that I had no agenda. It would be casual and simply catching up.

He replied that as it had nothing to do with work or business, he wouldn’t want to meet. “I don’t like to waste my time” he said.

I simply replied, “Oh okay.”

The conversation ended there and then.

At first, I was a little cheesed off.

I was thinking, “Wow, so meeting me is a waste of time huh? What an arrogant guy.”

I mean, that is an appropriate response, right? I am sure many would have felt the same.

I didn’t let it get to me. Some time later, the more I thought about it, the more I realized everyone has their own convictions about using their time.

Here’s another story:

A high school friend of mine was chatting with me.

He asked me, “If you found out a friend of yours was battling a terminal disease, would you donate?”

I said no. I cited the reason that there are too many scams out…
