I used to have a “best friend” once.
We knew each other since we were kids. We called each other best friends and felt like it would stay that way forever.
One of those indeed.
Fast forward twenty years later, we were no longer friends. It was me who made the decision that the friendship was dead.
I always felt like it was a case of losing each other to adult life.
A few things:
- People change. We all do. As we grow up, we simply do change.
- Your friends will start to become busy. They will indeed, get too busy for you and have less time for you.
- Their priorities will change and that means you’re going to be demoted. My best friend didn’t even tell me that his son was born. I found out about it on Facebook only.
- Now, you can either get really upset about this or not.
- The worst thing you can do is to force some trite, pseudo-inspirational nonsense about managing one’s time on your friends. For example, telling them shit like, “Yo, it only takes a few minutes to send a text. How hard can it be?” This is only disrespectful and will only serve to annoy them.
- The huge deciding factor is which party…
