How To Stop Caring About What Others Think: There Are Two Kinds Of People
Long ago, when I struggled with how to stop caring about what others think of me, I came upon an easy insight, one which I think should apply to all of us.
This insight came when I was chatting with a fellow blogger and online entrepreneur.
I asked him how he dealt with hateful, negative comments on his blog articles.
He simply replied, “I delete them.”
THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE WHEN IT COMES TO THE ISSUE HOW HOW TO STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK:
The first one claims that it doesn’t affect them.
How? They work it out in their head.
They talk about how they practice the art of meditation, conscious thinking or whatever to control their own thoughts better.
They acknowledge that bad people exist in the world and that there should be a balance. They also know that life isn’t fair.
They try their best to let the moment of annoyance, irritation or fear pass after looking at a bad comment or something. Sometimes, they even fake a smile.
They even confront or talk to the bad people in hopes of finding an answer they will like so that they can find peace.
That’s the first person. That’s how he or she deals with the challenge of how to stop caring about what other thinks. They’re entirely lost in their own irony.
The second one deletes the hateful comment.
They walk by the toxic people.
They don’t just ignore hurtful words, they blast loud music in their ears.
They don’t show up knowing that someone they dislike is there.
They just don’t give a flying fuck.
WANT TO LEARN HOW TO STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHERS THINK?
Be like the second person.
The first one is just lying to himself.
Stop with trying to attack toxicity and hateful shit. It’ll only always spill over, at least a little in your life.
Just fuck it and move on.
