I think that when it comes to work, even when it’s infused with passion, there’s a dilemma of how you should feel towards it.
On one hand, you have the passionate side, where you supposedly have fun doing your work and that will produce your best work ever.
This is when successful people like to claim, “I certainly didn’t expect such great results! I was just having fun!” or the more cliched, “Do what you love and you wouldn’t have to work a day in your life!”
On the other hand, that’s kind of wishful thinking to some.
To work hard is to consist of a lot of discipline, self-sacrifice and yep, doing the work even when you don’t feel like it.
This is when successful people like to shout, “No excuses!” or “When others are sleeping, I am working!”
It’s begs to be asked: How shitty should you be feeling? And how much fun should you be having?
Should you be having fun at all?
Should you work yourself out despite not wanting to in the first place?
I think there needs to be a balance.
Yes, you need to get off your ass and do the work. Otherwise you’re not doing anything.
But try to feel it every step of the way. Believe in it and remember why you love it. Inject some fun in it too.
Then remember to take a break now and then.
Otherwise, if you tire yourself out, you may start producing shit work, which is ultimately pointless.
Decide for yourself. Find your groove. Form your own habits. Create your own ideas and in turn experience.
What works for others may not work for you.
