Here’s To The Ones Almost Depressed

Trigger warning of sorts: This article touches on heavy, emotional subjects on mental health.

I am writing this for people who are in a lot of pain, but feel like they’ve no place in society, and have no voice because their pain cannot be validated on a theoretical level.

You do have a place. You do have a voice. If you feel like you want to seek help, then just go for it. There’s no shame in that.

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

You’re not clinically depressed.

You do wonder from time to time though whether you are.

Because on certain days, just certain days, you’ve trouble getting out of bed.

You don’t want to do shit.

You can face the day ahead, but you know that it’s going to be a bad day.

You get work done, but it’s a drag.

You just want to go back to bed.

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

There is no medicine for you to chemically help you.

There is no doctor who will take you seriously.

There is no blog article or video that speaks to you.

So you feel like fraud.

But it hurts anyway.

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

You’ve real pain. Real anger. Real sadness. Real frustration. Real problems. Real memories you can’t get rid of.

You’re dying to tell others about it.

You’ve done so before.

But they laughed at you, for you were merely only almost depressed. They tell you to stop being a baby.

You feel so alone.

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

You want professional help.

But what will others think when they find out?

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

You thought of suicide, but it is just a curious one.

You know that you’ll never go through with it.

Are you a coward?

You know you have many things to be grateful for.

Are you a hypocrite?

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.

If life, according to the internet, according to friends, according to the doctors is so good,

why does it suck so much?

It’s okay though. It’s all okay. You’re okay.

You’ve a place.

You’ve a voice.

You deserved to be heard and you can be helped.

There’re others like you out there.

You’re not alone.

You’re more than capable, so stop judging yourself.

You’ve been doing decently well.

So keep it up.

It’s okay.

Here’s to the ones almost depressed.
