Member-only story
I had a chat with a friend last night. He’s a chef. To get to where he is today, he started out by studying and interning in Sydney to learn the basics.
He gave himself a single year of zero bullshit.
No girls.
No partying.
No distractions.
No nonsense.
No indulging.
That was how he grew at the start.
I executed my own year as a B-boy (breakdancer) on the year I turned 30. That was seven years ago.
I joined every single competition I could despite how scared I was.
I recorded myself and trust me when I say I cringed the soul out of my entire being when I watched myself on screen.
I got really upset when I spoke to judges of competitions, asking for advice. They were harsh.
But that was how I grew.
That was how I found myself and my identity on the dancefloor.
That was when the compliments and props started coming in from friends.
That’s how I gained the confidence I have today, so much so I don’t really care for competitions and its accolades.
All it took was a single year of zero bullshit.
It is not long.
Do the same for yourself.
